Borra: The Avatar's Guidance
Chapter Thirteen: Encroaching Danger

(I do not, nor will I EVER, own The Legend of Korra. This series belongs to Bryke.)

Korra called Tenzin on the radio to inform him that Opal was on her way to the Northern Air Temple.

"Really?" Tenzin asked through the radio. "That's wonderful!"

"How's the training going?" Korra inquired.

"Not so well, I'm afraid," Tenzin answered, "No one seems to be interested in the hard work of becoming part of the Air Nation."

(A/N: That's because you make it sound so boring! Your Dad made it look cool!)

"You need to give yourself a break," Korra told him, "let Jinora and the kids help you out. And what about Bumi? He was a naval commander. Maybe he has some ideas about how to get people motivated."

"Bumi?" Tenzin asked incredulously. "He's my worst student!"

"He can't be that bad, can he?" asked Haku.

"He is," Tenzin answered.

"But he loves to organize people," Korra pointed out, "if you ask him for help, you can trick him into taking more responsibility by making him think the whole thing was his idea."

"Hmm," Tenzin hummed, contemplating the idea, "that actually sounds like a good plan. You're turning into a pretty wise Avatar, after all."

"Conflict resolution," Korra replied, "it's what I do."

"Because of this, I know you'll make a wonderful mother," Tenzin added.

Korra smiled as she rubbed her belly. "Thank you, Tenzin."

"Of course. Be sure to check in now and then."

"I will. Don't worry."

"Talk to you soon."

"You, too, Tenzin." On that, she hung up, sighing as she wobbled a bit.

"Whoa, Korra!" Bolin cried.

"It's okay, Bolin," assured Korra, "I'm just … a bit tired."

"Why don't you take a nap for a bit?" Bolin suggested.

"That'd be nice," Korra spoke, "Oh, and Bolin? I'm kinda hungry, too."

"Okay," Bolin replied, "What would you like to eat?"

"Ask if they've got any sea prunes," answered Korra.

"You got it," Bolin nodded.

Korra got into her bed with Naga at her side, the latter gently putting her nose to the former's belly.

"Good girl, Naga," praised Korra as she petted the polar bear dog.

Soon, Haku and Huanle entered the room. "Korra?" Haku called out her name.

"Yes, Haku?" Korra answered.

"Is … Is it all right if I lay with you and Naga?" Haku inquired.

"Of course," Korra answered.

Haku walked into the room, got onto the bed, and lay next to Korra. Next, he put his hand on her belly. In an instant, he felt a kick.

"Feel that?" asked Korra.

"Wow!" Haku answered in surprise. "I felt the baby!"

Korra chuckled. "It's amazing, isn't it?" she asked. "Being able to create a new life."

"Yeah, it is," Haku agreed.

Naga nuzzled her cheek against Korra's belly. The baby inside kicked in response, hitting her in the nose. "Hey!" Naga exclaimed, holding her nose with her paw. "That hurt, you know!"

"Sorry, Naga," Korra apologized, and she looked down at her belly, "I guess the baby's getting pretty active."

"A little more than I'd like," Naga muttered.

Korra yawned. "Hope Bo gets back soon."

Sure enough, Bolin came back with a bowl of sea prunes.

"Well, here you go," spoke Bolin, "Some nice stewed sea prunes."

"Thanks, Bolin," Korra replied as she took the bowl in her hands while Haku pinched his nostrils.

"Blegh," he stuck his tongue out.

Huanle grimaced as he pinched his nose, and Naga whined, her paw over her nose to prevent herself from inhaling the smell.

"Oh, come on, you guys," spoke Korra, "It can't be that bad."

Yes. It is. You have no clue.

At any rate, she took a bite out of the prunes, much to Haku, Huanle, and Naga's repugnance.

"I … I gotta go," piped up Haku as he and Huanle left.

Korra blinked in surprise as she ate her sea prunes. "Oh, well," she shrugged.

Naga continued covering her nose. After a while, Korra finished eating.

"Finally." Naga uncovered her nose.

Haku and Huanle even came back in.

"Are the sea prunes gone?" the boy asked.

Korra gave a slight burp in response. "'Scuse me."

Haku waved his hand a bit at the smell, but it wasn't as bad as the real thing. At any rate, he lay next to Korra and Naga. Huanle sat perched on his head. "Ahh..."

Before too long, they started to get tired.

"Sleep tight, Haku …" Korra whispered.

Haku yawned before he fell asleep, and soon, Huanle and Naga followed. Korra smiled as she pets the boy. Seeing his sleeping face made her heart melt. "Hm," Korra chuckled, rubbing her swollen abdomen, "I wonder if you'll be as adorable as Haku is, little guy." On that, she fell asleep, too.

Meanwhile, Zaheer's gang sat around a campfire while Zaheer meditated.

"We should've grabbed one of those cops," Ming Hua spoke, "maybe they know something about where the Avatar is hiding."

"She could be anywhere," added Ghazan.

"We'll find her," P'Li assured them, "it's just a matter of time."

The camera zoomed in on Zaheer's face as he opened his eyes. "She's with the Metal Clan."

"What did I tell you?" P'Li asked.

"There's something else," Zaheer added, "the Avatar … she's pregnant."

"Pregnant?!" Ming Hua parroted.

"You're kidding me!" exclaimed Ghazan.

"I'm afraid I'm not," Zaheer answered.

"… So … are we gonna go through with it?" asked P'Li. "Even though she's with child?"

"No," Zaheer responded firmly, "we'll wait until after she gives birth."

"You know something?" asked Ming Hua. "I agree with that."

"Same here," concurred Ghazan, "Even I don't have it in me to kill a kid … especially one that's not even born yet."

"Neither do I," P'Li added.

"It's unanimous, then," Zaheer concluded, "We capture the Avatar and go through with the plan until after her child is born."

Korra & Bolin take in an orphaned child.

I'm gonna keep saying this: Makorra and Boleska will never exist in my headcanon.

This is an Alternate Universe where Korra and Bolin become more than friends, etc.

Again: The Red Lotus won't kill Korra until AFTER she has her baby. They do plan on capturing her, though.

EDIT: I needed to tweak this, too.

"After 30 years, you're finally ready to talk?" Suyin questioned.
"When we were in Mom's office that day, you could've taken responsibility for what you did," Lin answered, "But instead, you stayed quiet and let Mom throw her whole career away!"
"Mom didn't throw her career away," Suyin rebuked, "she retired the next year. She was a hero."
"You think she wanted to retire?!" Lin questioned in anger. "She was so guilt-ridden about what she did to protect you; she didn't feel worthy of her badge!"
"Look, I admit that I was not a perfect kid, and I've made some mistakes in the past I'm not proud of, but—" Suyin answered.
"Ho-ho!" Lin laughed sarcastically. "You made some mistakes?!"
"Lin, Mom, and I already talked about this years ago and worked things out," Suyin answered, "If you had gotten together with us like

Korra stared down Wing as they stood apart from each other, the wind blowing in-between them. Bolin, meanwhile, stood alone from Wei.
Wing smirked as he sent two meteorites at Korra, who quickly dodged them before she threw some metal cables at him. Naturally, Wing was able to evade getting hit by the wire, then sent it back to Korra, but then he stopped before it could beat her.
"Sorry!" he said. "I forgot you're pregnant!"
"It's fine," Korra answered, "At least you knew when to stop, so I'm not mad."
"I still can't believe I'm sparring with the Avatar!" Wing added.
"I still can't believe I'm stuck with her boyfriend..." Wei spoke, not as enthused as his brother.
"Hey, it's not that bad!" Bolin retor

It's pretty humorous for Tenzin being taught by Korra in order for to be at least interesting to his new airbending students instead of boring, suggesting Bumi Jr., Jinora and the rest of kids to help him out. Nice!

I love this transition between the relationship of Korra and Haku, along with the Red Lotus led by Zaheer while tracking down the Avatar in his meditative state. It was really a calm and heartfelt between Korra and Haku, since we never get to see that in the OG version, other than Korra in the canon show trying to show off and be insufferable to the audience.

In addition, although we know throughout Book 3 that the Red Lotus want the Avatar "out of the picture," at least they have some sense of morality in not wanting to kill her until after her baby is born. Overall, keep it up!
